Abstract

Address delivered at the 1965 National Conference on Social Welfare. The address asks whether the state should require that a child be adopted only by families who practice the same religion as the child's birth parents. Drinan concludes that the problem is not easily resolvable, and that the religion of the birth mother is only one factor that social workers must weigh when selecting adoptive families for children.
