Sui Juris

Published by the Student Bar Association of Boston College Law School from 1956 to 1968, Sui Juris recorded campus news and events during a period of significant growth for the law school. In addition to announcements of faculty and student accomplishments and activities, features describe campus visits by significant figures in law and politics, especially those involved in Boston politics such as Kevin White, William Bulger, and Louise Day Hicks. Later issues of Sui Juris also include opinion pieces on current issues of the time, most notably the Vietnam War.

Sui Juris is a valuable document of the law school's history. Of particular interest are annual articles describing the demographics of each incoming class, which document the growing geographic diversity of the student body along with the consistently low number of women among the law students of the time.

The image at the left, depicting a law school exam, was featured on the cover of Sui Juris in February of 1967 (volume 11, number 2).
